FHWA and FTA announce the availability of three case studies focusing on the Congestion Management Process (CMP) as it has been developed and implemented by Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) for Transportation Management Areas (TMAs) across the country. These case studies highlight a range of practices to advance the Congestion Management Process as part of metropolitan transportation planning. The examples describe current practices, the outcomes of these approaches, and lessons learned. They also highlight how the CMP can be made more meaningful by linking it to the transportation planning process, transportation operations, and the NEPA process. The FHWA and FTA are also working on guidance for the CMP for use by FHWA/FTA field offices, MPOs, and State DOTs that will be issued in early 2007. |
